This year’s visit to the Yorkville Exotic Car show was “part 2” of a weekend farewell extravaganza for my Navy buddy ceriksson who is shipping out from Toronto. Yesterday we visited gun stores, knife stores and had great food, today it’s exotic cars, watches, and more great food!
Let’s start with Aston Martin
DB707
I love the giant grille! It looks like it will swallow up slower cars in front of it
I like the British Racing Green on this beautiful Vantage
I picked the TVR Sagaris as my “best in show” for YECS 2024 and it was great to see it again! This time it was parked in a shady spot though so my pics are not quite as good as 2024 but I assure you it is just as spectacular!
Still love that plexiglass rear wing!
As much as I love the Aston grilles, my nod for the best one at the show goes to the Peugot 206 rally car. I LOVE rally cars!
An incredibly bright yellow Lamborghini Huracan STO got my “best in show” vote last year. Sadly, it was not here this year but there were LOTS of Lamborghinis including a few Aventador SVJs!
SVJ looks great in green
I like the air scoop on the matte black one
If you prefer less subtle
Love the classics like the Diablo
And Murcielago
Huracan Evo Spyder
ceriksson is more of a truck/SUV kind of guy…not sure the URUS fits the bill for him
dunno, I really liked the spec on this one parked on Yorkville. I am sure we will find a truck for ceriksson at the show (or in Yorkville lol)
On to Ferrari
Classic 328
Some V12s, such as the 550 Maranello
and 812 Superfast
Maserati MC20
Maserati Grecale
Alfa Romeo Stelvio
On to German cars. Not too many 911s this year but there were a couple of GT4RS!
GT3 RS
Only a few Mercedes on display at the show
But there were some in the area, including one of my all time favourites, the SLS! I have driven a few of these on the road and track
ok NOW we found a truck for ceriksson! (ironically parked behind another Urus) I would gladly take one too!
Great showing of Lotus courtesy of Gentry Lane
Evora GT
The new Eletre SUV
The old school Esprit was my favourite
We already covered Aston, TVR, and Lotus but that’s not all for British supercars, we can’t forget McLaren
I am not 100% sure but I think this is a Jaguar D-type?
For a small donation you could sign your name on this Rolls!
I don’t think the owner of this Cullinan would have let you do that!
I thought that I was worried about door dings, check out this parking job!
That would be an expensive ding, as this custom cost over $1 million
So great to run into one of the original show organizers
Last but not least, American muscle! Viper ACR
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing! This is high on my list
There were lots of Corvettes though I only got a pic of this one, gray car for a gray man?
This Chevy Suburban Z71 sounded awesome!
Lucid Gravity SUV looks pretty good
Once again Melanoma Canada had a Mobile Mole unit on site and ceriksson got a check-up
They say 200,000 people pass through the show…it certainly was crazy busy!
All done with the cars, we wanted to visit some of the many luxury stores in the area. The sales rep at L’Oro was great! Apart from being friendly and accommodating our pic requests, she really knew her watches and was familiar with every model I asked about!
The had a great selection of IWC, these are just the pilot watches
TOP GUN Mojave editions
TOP GUN Lake Tahoe editions
Top Gun chrono and Timezoner in Woodland
The Timezoner was ceriksson’s favourite. I couldn’t pick a favourite as I liked all of them!
It was so cool to learn about Panerai’s “Experience” watches such as the 1000M Submersible (not shown here) just released at Watches and Wonders. That watch is actually not available for direct sale rather it is part of a $100K+ “experience package” that includes visiting the Navy Seals training facilities!
L’Oro also carries Roger Dubuis! Perfect companion to your exotic car
Next, Royal de Versailles where I found one of my grail watches, the Titanium version of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 6000M
Thick but….
Still slimmer than my Surefire/Luminox 2011 lol
Took another look at the Tudor Pelagos 1000M
vs. ceriksson’s 500M watch
Continuing my obsession with 1000M+ deep divers at Rolex, the Deepsea
And Seadweller! I love that Cyclops!
What goes with a luxury watch? A high end fountain pen of course! Next stop, Laywines
I liked the limited edition Pelikans
And the gold leaf Platinum 3776s. I actually have the Fujin Raijin edition
There was a long lineup to get into the Kith store so we skipped that and Stone Island as well.
I wanted to visit Christian Loubutain
and I wondered if they would let me in with my Giuseppes lol. Yup, no “gang” rivalries here lol.
The Molten Trapman boots were spectacular! They feature a hand-applied coated canvas poured over the upper, not just making each pair different but each boot within each pair different! Yours for $3,700!
All that browsing built up an appetite. While there are some amazing high end restos in Yorkville (like Drake’s favourite Sotto Sotto) we wanted to prioritize great food over a “Yorkville” experience (if you know what I mean). In my opinion, 8 Mile Detroit pizza was the best option in the area. Besides, ceriksson had never tried Detroit style pizza. Also, their Spicy Pie is one of my all time favourite pizzas and I have had it many times via delivery but have never actually visited their resto in person!
For those unfamiliar this is an “upside down” pizza in the sense that the toppings are put first (so are they bottoms?) and then the sauce is poured over them. As such, the pizzas are square in shape and have high edges so the sauce doesn’t spill out.
My Spicy Pie
ceriksson’s Detroit Red Top (Microtech not included)
The Microtech wasn’t included with the pizza but it sure goes with other gray man accessories
Following my tradition, Carole’s Cheesecake after the Yorkville Exotic Car Show
no Pistachio today so ceriksson went with the Matcha and I chose the new version of their apple taffee
I usually close my reviews with a recap of my favourites but I won’t do that here as that wasn’t the point of today. Rather, I wanted a proper send-off for my friend. Thanks again for making all the events/visits we have done over the past year a lot more fun and all your generous gifts, especially the one from today, honoured to receive it. And of course, thanks for your Service! Stay safe!
